The dilemma of Nature Versus Nurture in Biological Beginnings of Lifespan Developmental Psychology

Question:
Nature versus nurture has supporting evidence on both sides. Discuss the similarities/differences between the biological AND environmental aspects of behavior.

Response:

The environmental influences (nurture) include how we are socialized. This includes family dynamics, schooling environment, teachers, neighbourhood, etc. The biologically influences include viruses, birth complications, cells, and our wiring.

The epigenetic view believes that there is an ongoing, bidirectional interchange between heredity (biology) and the environment. Heredity and enviornment operate together-or collaborate to produce the persons intelligence, temperament, height, weight, physical abilities, musical abilities. They will have an influence in terms of the how the person is shaped and view the world.

The example given is 'an attractive, popular, intelligent girl is elected president of her senior class in school, her success is due to her environment and heredity."
